Description

The building development by the sea formed an important part of the fishing station. Here were the former wharf, boathouse and approx. 100 fisherman's shacks, but these disappeared at the end of the nineteenth century and the beginning of the twentieth century. The fishermen's shacks provided housing for travelling fishermen, who came to Lofoten to take part in the large-scale winter fishing. Stone quays, boat landings and ruins today comprise significant elements in the environment, and in the sound towards Storvåganholmen there are several mooring lines and painted mooring rings.
Lofoten Museum has moved fishermen's shacks and boathouses to this area.
