The design of the old building is based on a 7.2m x 7.2m modular grid, and this is reflected both in the plan and the elevations. The freestanding load bearing system with its large columns and edge beams is made of site cast concrete and emphasize the importance of the construction. The actual external walls are set back and built in lighter materials and clad with contrasting red panels.
