Description

The church is a long church with a west facing entrance and chancel in the east. This type of layout design has a long held tradition in Norway. Above the west end is a large ridge turret that terminates with an onion-shaped steeple crown and tall spire. In front of the entrance lies a roof covered porch - something that is reminiscent of the narthexes found in early Christian churches in Europe. The roof located above the porch is supported by eight wooden posts, four of which are slanted, perhaps to evoke the fact that the church is situated in a Sámi landscape. The parish hall and sacristy are located in a southeast facing wing that is annexed to the shell of the building. Clad with red painted vertical paneling, the building terminates with a slate covered hipped roof.
