"Finnmark kringkaster" (3 of 3)
Description
Solid materials are used in the reception area – slate, plastered and painted walls and a curved staircase down to the basement, the banisters of which draw the eye in a pleasing fashion. Broadcasting House has been the subject of many renovations and developments. Extensive work was done to the interior in 1977 and 1991, and to the exterior in 1984 and 2001. Much of what was done paid little heed to the building’s original architecture, and many of the original features have been removed. Store studio has been reduced to somewhere to store chairs, with a television stand in one corner. Outside, the original building spaces have had to compete with a characterless row of extensions.
