Description

The church is a long church, built of plastered reinforced concrete, with a magnificent front that overlooks the town. This front can be characterised as a play on perspective effects, something that one already notices from the town centre - the longitudinal axis of the church is positioned at an angle in relation to the axis in the street Kirkegata. The façade that faces the street can be recognised as a split Classical temple front, which is positioned in front of a tall corresponding west front. Vertical elements are aimed upwards and emphasise the slender spire that is silhouetted against the sky, below the upper temple gable. This sculptural and perspective effect is also emphasised by the three-sided flight of steps that leads towards the entrance portal.
