Description

The Brodtkorbs established their own private gravesite on the property, west of the yard. Enclosing the gravesite is a natural stonewall and a portal made of light coloured marble. The portal is constructed with Renaissance principles - and the square and circle, or cube and sphere, were the preferred geometric figures. The marble may have come from the estate's own marble quarry, which was located near Tjøtta. Reflecting a variation in materials and design, the tombstones also follow stylistic developments. Here one will find cast-iron slabs that lay on the field, cast-iron markers designed following Classical principles and elements designed in natural stone and marble.
