A monumental and richly decorated entrance portal thrones the top of a tall set of double steps. The portal, as well as the remaining parts of the building, can be characterised as belonging to the Neo Baroque style, with many Classical features, such as the more national decorations in the interior.

Odd Ystanes has executed the nicely carved portal with columns, composite capitals, lunette window, garlands and the upper termination with an entablature that has concave and convex movements.
