"Gamslett" (5 of 5)
Description
The boathouse was built in 1931. Earlier there was an "åttring" boathouse located in the same place. An "åttring" is a type of nordlands boat with 4-5 pairs of oars. The current boathouse was built using post and beam construction, and was clad with panelling painted a yellow-ochre colour. Inside the boathouse there is a two-and-a-half-roomed and a three-roomed "nordlands" boat. Alongside the boathouse is a boat launch ramp which was used by nearby fisherman to pull their boats onto land. The boats were often propped up in the intertidal zone so that the boat owners could make small repairs.
