Description
From the beginning of the 1960s, and for 30 years after that, the barracks were gradually redecorated and restored as far as the mining company's budget would permit. The barracks were additionally insulated, windows, mouldings and outer cladding were replaced, and interior sections were altered. This caused many of its unique features to be lost. Typical characteristics from the restoration architecture, such as the shape of the windows, disappeared
combined with the other alterations, the present-day appearance of Nybyen's façade aspect has been rendered commonplace.
