"Jørns gate 39" (3 of 3)
Description
The house is situated freely and openly on an elevation in the landscape. The grounds extend down towards the north and west, seen from the north. The area west of the town between its centre and Harstadåsen, which today consists mostly of villas/detached houses with gardens around, began to be built up in the course of the first half of the twentieth century. Before that, there were more or less rural surroundings with, amongst others, Kaarbøgården (Kaarbø Farm), dating from the early nineteenth century. Today there is a great variety of building types, with villas built in the Swiss style and Jugendstil, and houses built in a functionalist style, as well as the sports hall and church nearby.
