The old Methodist church is located in Harstad's town centre, on the slope at the intersection of the streets Hvedings gate and Normanns gate. Due to its shape and design, the church is one of the most central corner buildings in Harstad. Its tall steeple is easily visible from many sections of town. Today this area is dominated by large buildings such as car parks, business premises, and the community district. Behind the church lie two villas from the early 20th century which are distinguished by details from the Swiss- and Jugendstil.

The church is rectangular shaped with a steep pitched saddle roof and clock tower on the corner, facing east and towards the town centre. The clock tower terminates with a pyramidal shaped roof crown with a small spire. Originally the entrance to the church was located on the north side, but it was moved to the eastern gable wall after a Masonic Lodge in Harstad took over the building in 1976. The façades are made of yellow painted plastered concrete. The corners of the clock tower have imitation ashlars that are painted red.
