Description

The building has large window areas to let in optimal natural light and the masonry walls are rendered lightweight expanded clay aggregate (leca) blocks. Much effort has also been made to sound proof the building due to its location near Tromsø Airport. Both the triple glazing, the external masonry walls and the heavy green roof contribute to considerable reduction of external sound transmission.

Each of the day nursery's four units faces the central patio and each base has a playroom, changing room and toilets. The staff also has a meeting room and the manager has his/her own office, both placed centrally in the building with glazed walls towards communal areas.

The day nursery has generous and varied outdoor play areas. There is a nature trail through the parts where the original terrain is preserved and here the children also have a wooden lean-to shelter (gapahuk).
