One of the rooms in the large red barn is a "barn kitchen" with a fireplace and a baking oven. Here they might have butchered meat, baked bread and flat bread, done the laundry and other jobs too big to be done in the main kitchen.
Towards the end of the 19th century it became common practice to gather many of the former small farm buildings into one just as they did here at Kaldslett.
