Co i Orkdal. Antagelig ble dette for kostbart. I hvert fall ble kapellet etter hvert tegnet og satt opp av byens egne krefter.
The chapel was completed in 1905 in accordance with drawings by the City Engineer Liaasen who held this position in Tromsø between 1899 and 1905. Karl S. Tessem was the master builder. The campaign to build a chapel at the cemetery started already in 1899, and a design was drawn up by the architect Holger Sinding-Larsen and Thams &
Co in Orkdal had quoted to deliver the pre-fabricated building. However, this seems to have become too expensive and in the end it was all designed and built locally.
