"I-box passivhus" (2 of 3)
Description
The house has large glasspanels to the south and the walls on this side, like the rest of the house, are clad on the exterior with heartwood pine. The house's centre of energy is built up around a 250-litre hot-water tank. This is linked to a four square metre solar panel mounted vertically to the south up on the roof terrace. The solar panel covers about 50% of the heating and hot water requirements. The solar panel's circulation pump cuts in when the temperature at the top of the solar panel is higher that the temperature at the bottom of the hot-water tank.
