Tromsø Auroral Observatory has an L-shaped footprint and consists of two blocks, one with three storeys and another of just one storey, both connected by a lower entrance area. The eastern wing contains a lecture theatre, library and reading room. The main functions in the western wing are laboratories and offices. The external walls are clad with bricks and horizontal wooden cladding.
