"Grønnegata 122" (4 of 7)
Description
When the county administration building was built, it was architecturally updated in regard to the latest trends. One recognises the V-shaped columns from architect Oscar Niemeyer's block of flats in Hansaviertel, Berlin, erected in 1956-57. These flats were a part of the International Building Exhibition (IBA). This exhibition featured buildings by internationally renowned architects. The styles presented at this event became the basic ideals of post-war modernism. Hovig also employed V-shaped columns in an expansion project of the Narvik Hospital, a project he worked on a couple years later.
