The Myreng Blocks of flats are located at the highest point of Tromsø Island, near the lake Prestvannet - a popular outdoor area. This housing cooperative is comprised of three 8-storied blocks which are situated adjacent to one another in a north-south direction. During the 1950s there was a shortage of housing in Tromsø, this led to a large housing development at the highest point of the island. A building proposal plan was submitted by the architect Peter Arnet Amundsen

it was approved by the local council in the summer of 1955. This plan included the three tower blocks, in addition to terrace houses and vertically divided duplexes.

Due to the height of the blocks, an exemption had to be submitted to the ministry. As a result, construction of the blocks was delayed until 1958. At this point the blocks shot up in the air with record speed. This was the first time a sliding formwork had been used in Northern Norway.

In 2002, the blocks were reconstructed and new glass balconies were added. This caused a change in the look of the buildings.
