The stairwell is situated on the backside corner of the building, near the backyard. This location allows one to access the different stories of the building, without actually entering the stories themselves. Once the building was completed, the business was located on the ground and the living quarters were located on the two upper stories. Today there is a restaurant on the lower storey, together with living quarters on the top. The round form of the stairwell is reflective of the ideals of Jugenstil - where oval, round and curved forms are often seen.
