"Grønnåsen kirke" (4 of 5)
Description
The sanctuary room has an unconventional sculptural piece, designed by the Tromsø artist Knut Fjørtoft. Twelve Plexiglas sheets are suspended above the altar. Each quadrangle is decorated with a silk screen motif. The sheets are suspended in a seemingly reckless circular arrangement. In addition to a purely decorative and contemplative quality, the sculpture also has a practical function. At the highest point of the sanctuary room, these sheets aid in projecting sound onto the rest of the room. Fjørtoft also created a depiction of Christ, which hangs by the pulpit.
