Description
The 6,300 m2 library building is open to the general public including functions such as a separate children’s and young people’s library, café, meeting and educational rooms as well as an exhibition space. These are organised around an internal street with a wide open stair and windows let in daylight and views of the surroundings to all these different spaces. The main reading room overlooks the harbour through floor to ceiling fenestration and the space also serves as a “retreat”, open to all, in a city with weather conditions which at times are very inhospitable.
