Description

The architect Harald Sund (1876-1940) grew up in Gildeskål (southwest of Bodø) and when he had completed his studies, he set up practice in Kristiania (now Oslo) with August Nielsen (1877-1956) from Sømna (in the very far southern end of the county Nordland). They had many commissions restoring old buildings and designed many churches. As is the case with this building, many of their projects show how they were interested in traditional Norwegian wooden architecture and quality craftsmanship. However, here they have introduced new architectural elements such as seen in the garden room, the corner window and the terrace walls.
