In 1941 Svenskebyen was out of town and there were no neighbouring houses. Altogether 107 homes were created in a mixture of detached and semidetached houses. They were all prefabricated in Sweden and the sections were assembled on site. The sections consisted of a double layer of 2" wooden planks, which on the outside had three layers of felt and two layers of wooden cladding, and on the inside there was one layer of medium density fibreboard.
