The architect Olaf Nordhagen (1883-1925) was also the architect for the restoration of the Nidaros Cathedral in Trondheim and a professor at the technical university in the same city. He was often chosen for prestigious projects like the Freemasons' Hall in Bodø. He designed this building having won an invited competition in 1923. He is also known for two other projects in the county of Nordland: the power station in Glomfjord and the Narvik Church.
