Description

The architects Nygaard and Schyberg designed the business premises for Julius Jakhelln in 1949. The firm Julius Jakhelln, which is still in operation today, is an important business for the Bodø district and sells building materials. It is a three-storied building that terminates with a slate covered hipped roof. On the first storey one will find shops, which are marked with large windows and sheets of marble. While the stories above have a more simple design, typical of the reconstruction period in the Bodø town centre. In 1969 the building was expanded with an addition towards the northeast (here to the right in the photo), designed by the architect Gisle Jakhelln. One can describe the façade of the annex as a continuation of the older building.
