 Karasjok gamle kirke

Karasjok gamle kirke ( Old Karasjok Church)
The altarpiece was a gift from the Tromsø priest Jens Florup Rasmussen, and was donated to the church in 1831. The white painted framework has a light expression - nearly a Rococo character. Here one sees a painting which is replica of a painting done by Anthoni Van Dyck. The unknown artist who painted this work most likely used a copper engraving as his model. This altarpiece depicts Christ and the Crown of Thorns.
