 Bebyggelsen i Longyearbyen - fargesetting

Bebyggelsen i Longyearbyen - fargesetting ( The Longyearbyen Colour Scheme)
Longyearbyen's colour scheme also includes the old mining settlements in the Longyear Valley, but here the shades are more muted than in town. The former miners' living quarters are large buildings set in rows on each side of the street. Most of the year they stand out brightly in the snow covered landscape, but during the autumn they are in tune with the autumn colours of nature.

This settlement was established shortly after WW2 and got the then apt name Nybyen, the new town, though now it is one of the oldest parts of Longyearbyen.
